Nigeria: Grain and Feed Annual

Rice import for MY 2023/24 is forecast to increase by 4 percent as flooding curbs domestic production and increases imports. Wheat imports are expected to decrease marginally due to surging global wheat prices and the government's attempts at wheat self-sufficiency. Wheat production is forecast to increase by 42 percent due to an MOU guaranteeing an agreed price that millers pay wheat farmers. Corn and rice production are forecast to decline marginally due to insecurity and high production costs. Total consumption of sorghum is estimated to increase by 3 percent due to low prices relative to wheat.

Thailand: Rice Price - Weekly

The strengthening of the Thai baht and strong export demand pushed export prices of Thai rice slightly higher.

The full Committee will hold an in-person and virtual public meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Subcommittees on Cyclospora cayetanensis in produce and on Cronobacter spp. in Powdered Infant Formula will hold concurrent Subcommittee meetings on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 1 to 5 p.m., as well as on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, and Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., respectively.
The deadline to register to provide verbal comments is May 8, 2023.
