On3 Heisman Trophy Poll: Ranking the top players after Week 3

Trinidad Chambliss, Kamario Taylor, Darian Mensah

Week 3 shook up the top of On3's weekly Heisman Trophy Poll, and quarterbacks now hold each of the top three spots. A trio of skill position players sit right behind them. With On3's national experts each submitting a top-10 ballot, two signal-callers stood out this week for very different reasons.

3. QB Darian Mensah, Miami – 123 points

WEEKEND STATS: 30-of-34 for 220 yards, 3 TD | 2 carries for 5 yards

Miami's offense stalled a bit in the second half against Wake Forest, but that wasn't on Mensah. He was sharp from start to finish, and his completion percentage on the year is downright absurd. He isn't just dinking and dunking, either. He has a firm grasp of where his receivers are supposed to be, and with the Hurricanes squarely in the playoff picture, he'll stay on the big stage.

7. QB Jayden Maiava, USC – 47 points

WEEKEND STATS: 20-of-32 for 277 yards, 2 TD | 3 carries for 9 yards

USC got pulled into an unexpected shootout at Rutgers, and Maiava wasn't quite as sharp as he'd been earlier in the season. Still, he did enough to guide the Trojans to a key road win all the way across the country. He's thrown 12 touchdowns to just one interception, and if USC's defense doesn't tighten up, he could be in line for monster numbers and some signature moments.

So which players claim the top two spots? The full poll ranks the other eight players in the top 10, plus nine more also receiving votes from On3's national panel.

True Freshman Standouts from Week 3 of College Football

Week 3 belonged to the true freshmen, with two first-time starting quarterbacks each rallying their teams from double-digit deficits to win.
BYU WR Legend Glasker earned True Freshman of the Week after a one-handed 70-yard grab swung the Cougars' win at Colorado State, and he's on pace to break a program record.
