Morning! This is Kristen Wong from Sports Illustrated. The wedding bells are ringing, the pigeons are cooing and your English and gym teacher are about to get married on a very hot July day in New York City. What started with the goofy jock making a friendship bracelet and shooting his shot on his bro-ey podcast ends, somehow, with him getting the girl. Not just any girl. Taylor Alison Swift. (There’s still time to back out, Tay—cue “Speak Now.”) In all seriousness, I’m just happy she’s happy. Here’s to the lovebirds getting their happily ever after.
Forward this to your Swiftie friend, duh. Also send them our fun little quiz on Swift and Kelce’s love story.

We’ll take a short break in our Tayvis programming to bring you a few viral moments from the sports world …
HAIRLINE HEARTBREAK: Croatia got eliminated from the World Cup in their Round of 32 game against Portugal by the slimmest of margins. Late in regulation, Croatia’s Joško Gvardiol thought he scored the game-tying goal to send it to extra time, but VAR ruled it out after deeming that Croatia forward Igor Matanović appeared to flick the ball to an offsides teammate who set Gvardiol up for the goal. Here’s the controversy: Did Matanović actually touch the ball or not? A sensor in the ball says he did. Slo-mo replay videos show that only his hair may have touched the ball, but didn’t change the trajectory of it in any way. Just an all-time brutal way to go out.
FERAL FELINES: Our hot take: Americans should just be banned from commentating matches in the World Cup (looking at you, Stu Holden). Over in England, BBC commentator Danny Murphy took viewers for a ride with a wild story about his missing cat. Murphy brought up how he lost his cat Bob, prompted by Oscar Bobb playing for Norway against the Ivory Coast earlier this week. Murphy said Bob jumped in the back of a mail-carrier van and was gone, just like that. Then, during the Spain-Austria match on Thursday, Murphy finished the sad story: “We did get him back six or seven weeks later. Unfortunately he had gone feral and we couldn’t re-integrate him into the home, and he ended up living with my friend’s parents in Preston. That was the life he had and now he has passed away, unfortunately, many years ago.” R.I.P. Bob.

Lionel Messi and an in-form Argentina side will look to end Cape Verde’s Cinderella run in Miami. His international rival, Kylian Mbappe will be trying to do the same against Paraguay, who just knocked out a juggernaut in Germany. (Both Messi and Mbappe lead all goalscorers with six apiece.) Can Erling Haaland and his luscious locks stun World Cup perennials Brazil? And saving the best for last, England vs. Mexico at Azteca Stadium. ¿Vuelve a casa? The Hand of God looms overhead.
Wishing Swift and Kelce a lifetime of love—and can’t wait for the marriage album drop. See ya Sunday!
