Good morning, besties! I hope you had a fabulous Fourth of July weekend, and that it wasn’t so hot you could barely see the fireworks (as was the case in my native Pittsburgh). This is Brigid Kennedy, here to deliver yet another recap of the last three days in sporting news.
It’s crazy to think the Royal Wedding has come and gone … I, for one, am still soaking up all of the Tayvis content possible, but I think I’ll reach my critical max in a day or two here. Forward this to a friend who was equally invested in the festivities.

NOTHIN’ BUT NET: Basketball continued to provide all the drama over the weekend, as the early days of free agency kept doing their thing. You can catch up on the biggest rumors and signings by taking a scroll through our tracker, which includes some nice details regarding LeBron James’s future. … Speaking of the King, James’s agent provided a helpful breakdown of possible landing spots for the soon-to-be Hall of Famer. … And if you don’t want to listen to Rich Paul, you can read through our arguments for every team, instead. … In other NBA-related news, newly minted Celtics center Mitchell Robinson explained how he broke his finger ahead of the NBA Finals. … And finally, over in the W, Caitlin Clark condemned any hate toward the Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas, who has been dealing with the backlash from the heated no-call involving them both.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE: Should we rename the Fourth of July to Joey Chestnut Day? Honestly, I might have entertained it had the glizzy gobbler not donned a Polymarket chain during his 18th career Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest win on Saturday. In fact, the questionable choice of jewelry seems to have turned off other members of his fanbase, too. … In other festive news, here’s a look at what every MLB team wore for the big holiday, plus a peek at the full AL and NL rosters for the 96th All-Star Game.
WIMBLE-DONE: Is the All England Club the new Roland Garros? Two top seeds exited the tournament this weekend: World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka fell to No. 14 Naomi Osaka in the fourth round, and No. 3 Iga Świątek lost to No. 29 Alexandra Eala in the third. Lots of downstream effects here! … We didn’t get another look at Serena Williams, either. The GOAT lost to Maya Joint in the first stage, but she was still slated to appear in the doubles draw alongside her sister, Venus, on Saturday. Sadly, though, her knee was acting up, and she had to withdraw. Maybe we’ll see her in New York in September …?

O.K., a bit more Tayvis content, plus a cool Wimbledon moment …
THE WEDDING SINGER: I bet this wasn’t on your bingo card: Comedian Adam Sandler officiated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding? If you’re wondering why … look no further than this explanation.
JUST&T: And if you’re craving even more details about the nuptials of the year, never fear: Kristen Wong live-blogged as much as she could, so that all of us watching from the wings could enjoy like we were there … kind of. Enjoy this Monday morning read.
GOOD POINT: Even non-tennis-knowners can appreciate this incredible point between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina & Felix Auger-Aliassime, a rally that featured some fabulous saves and legendary hustle. Auger-Aliassime ultimately won the match in five sets, but only after three tiebreaks, too. Sheesh!

WNBA:
Storm @ Sparks—10 p.m. ET; USA Network
Both the Storm and the Sparks—No. 14 and No. 10 in the WNBA standings, respectively—are heading into Monday night’s tilt on a two-game losing streak, so at least one of the teams will see their luck start to turn around. As of this writing, L.A. is 8–10 on the season, while Seattle is just 5–17.
World Cup:
Portugal vs. Spain—3 p.m. ET; Fox
Geographic neighbors Portugal and Spain will duke it out this afternoon for a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals. Time for the Ronaldo hate-watchers to clock in.
U.S.A. vs. Belgium—8 p.m. ET; Fox
Team USA got some incredible news on Sunday afternoon when it was reported that star striker Folarin Balogun, who received a non-appealable one-match ban during America’s win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, would be permitted to play in the team’s match against Belgium. There were apparently some conversations between Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino that may have influenced the decision … but, hey—I can’t say I’m not grateful.
Tennis:
And finally, there is still Wimbledon action to check out today, as well. Notable matches include Zverev vs. Lehecka, Fritz vs. Bublik and Paolini vs. Eala, among others.
That's all I've got for you for now. I'll have more locked and loaded for the Wednesday Write-Up. Until then, my friends!
