Highlights are below. 64.2 percent of the population worked at some point in 2023 09/02/2025 Overall, 64.2 percent of the U.S. population worked in 2023, up from 63.8 percent in 2022. In 2023, the percentage of women who worked at some time during the year increased by 0.5 percentage point to 59.4 percent, and the percentage of men who worked at some time during the year was up by 0.4 percentage point to 69.2 percent. Men continued to be more likely to work at some time during the year than women. HTML
