| The following GAIN reports were released on August 1, 2025. _______
Wuhan, known as the "Chicago of China", is central China's largest transportation and logistics hub, strategically facilitating domestic and international trade. The city's $293.2 billion economy is fueled by technological innovation, industrial modernization, and a thriving food processing sector. Wuhan's inland port leads China's rail-sea intermodal transport, reinforcing its role in global commerce and supply chain efficiency. Its expanding retail, food processing, and hotel and restaurant industry (HRI) create strong demand for imported food products, particularly dairy, nuts, dried fruits, and premium food ingredients. Wuhan's logistical advantages and growing consumer market present valuable opportunities for U.S. products. FAS Accra (Post) and the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC), along with US Soy, collaborated on the seventh biannual poultry training program and cooking competition in Accra, Ghana. The program trains student chefs from technical universities in Ghana with skills by showcasing the versatility and high-quality of U.S.-origin poultry. Since the program's inception in 2015, some 2,000 students have been trained by USAPEEC. In calendar year 2025 (January-May), U.S. poultry exports to Ghana at $44 million are already up 54 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, effective February 1, 2026. These updates refine standards for food products and additives, including refractive index parameters, processing aids, enzymes, and food color preparations. New standards for meat sausages and dehydrated tarragon have been introduced, alongside modifications to packaged drinking water and synthetic food color requirements. The regulations aim to enhance food safety, quality, and compliance, impacting both domestic and imported food products. For 2025/26, Indonesian paddy and corn production are forecast to return to normal trends following significant increases due to weather anomalies in 2024/25. The ample supply of corn in 2024/25 has driven feed mills to use more corn in feed formulations, reducing wheat for feed consumption and ending stocks. On trade, the trade deal between the United States and Indonesia announced on July 22, 2025 is expected to increase the market share of U.S. corn and wheat supplied to Indonesia in 2025/26. On June 24, 2025, the Israeli Ministry of Justice and the Israeli Ministry of Health published a request for public comments on Implementation of changes to European Union regulation related to Food Improvement Agents. The publication, which has not been notified to the World Trade Organization, is only open for public comment until August 6, 2025, 23:59 (Israel Standard Time).
