The Craig family basically invented lithium exploration in Nevada. No one else was doing it in 2008, when the Craigs started. So no one else was there to find Rhyolite Ridge - the geologic formation that feeds lithium, boron, and other precious metals into the surrounding area. For the past 30 million years, briny acquifers have flowed through Rhyolite Ridge, depositing lithium in numerous pockets. Ioneer is developing one of those pockets. They first grabbed their claims from the Craigs - and saw their market cap shoot up from ~$10 million to over $200 million. The Department of Energy has granted Ioneer a $700 million loan to develop their property - indicating even greater valuations could be on the way. Rhyolite Ridge feeds the only active lithium-brine mining operation in the US - Albemarle's Silver Peak Project. And, perhaps most exciting, it empties into the contained Columbus Basin. This basin once hosted a thriving boron extraction operation, when boron was in high demand to make soap for California prospectors. The large and very promising target area at the Columbus Basin has never been explored for lithium. That will change in the 1st quarter of 2024 when a small microcap, will start drilling and then announce its findings. The preliminary data is very promising, with lithium concentrations in the clay that is right in line with surrounding Rhyolite Ridge projects. The geology is ideal, with a series of aquifers and a multi-tiered brine system already identified in this hydrologically-contained basin. Anything washing this direction off Rhyolite Ridge ends up trapped here. The target is huge, over 20,000 hectares in size and over 12,000 feet deep. And an explorer with a market cap under $15 million not only controls the highly prospective Comlubus Basin project, they also control 100% of the water rights. The Craigs have already sold lithium claims to companies that went on to combine for over $1 billion in market value. This could be the next major success story.
