Texas Man Sentenced to One Year and One Day in Prison for Offenses Committed During Jan. 6 Capitol Breach 06/10/2022 12:00 AM EDT WASHINGTON – A Texas man was sentenced today to one year and one day in prison on a felony charge stemming from his actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. His and others' actions disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the presidential election. We also have a responsibility to ensure public safety and the orderly conduct of government business. We will not tolerate violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property. We are committed to working closely with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to stop any individuals who intend to commit violence or criminal activity under the guise of carrying out a demonstration."
