BREAKING: FBI, U.S. attorney open investigation into NY Gov. Cuomo's handling of nursing home deaths

After early praise for his leadership when his state became the U.S. epicenter of the pandemic, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is now facing a preliminary investigation by the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn and the FBI after accusations that the state's government grossly underreported nursing home deaths.

The news comes after the administration revealed that 15,000 long-term care residents have died, nearly double the 8,500 previously disclosed. Democratic and Republican lawmakers in New York are now reported to be reconsidering their decision to grant Cuomo emergency powers to contend with the Covid-19 crisis.
