Jan 24, 2020 Coronavirus death toll rises to 41 after China reports 15 more fatalities Chinese authorities reported early Saturday that 15 people died in a single day from the coronavirus, most of whom were in Wuhan, the city considered ground zero of the outbreak. A second case was confirmed in the U.S. Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is also investigating another 61 potential cases spanning 22 states. China intensified efforts Friday to contain the deadly virus, shutting down public transportation in Wuhan and at least 13 surrounding cities in Hubei province.
