At least eight people have died and more than 200 are injured after an earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Friday, officials told local media. The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8, was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest with magnitudes of 5.4 and 5.1. Pictures and video footage posted to social media, apparently taken in the towns of Elazig and Sivrice, showed collapsed buildings and rescuers searching through rubble. |
