U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Brian Cessna, 63, of Jamestown, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 400 grams or more of fentanyl, which carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in, a maximum of life, and a fine of $10,000,000.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Spencer Hart, 39, of Albion, NY, who was convicted of possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor and having a prior conviction under the laws of any state relating to the possession or receipt of child pornography, was sentenced to serve 120 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

Ross announced today that Ronald Morris, 48, of Buffalo, NY, who was convicted of aggravated bank robbery, attempted bank robbery, and using, possessing, and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, was sentenced to serve 171 months in prison and pay restitution totaling $551,286 by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Francis Cardinell, 77, of Penfield, NY, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford to perjury by materially inconsistent statements, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA —Don Everett Peters, III, a/k/a "Pop," 21, and Shylik Lamont Smalls, a/k/a "Mitch," 22, both of Columbia, and Elijah Rasue Dewayne Ellis, a/k/a "Smoke," a/k/a "Black," 21, of Valdosta, Georgia, have each been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in the March 17, 2022, armed robbery of a United States Postal Letter Carrier in downtown Columbia.

PROVIDENCE , RI –  A Providence man admitted to a federal judge today that, in February 2021, while he was detained at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) on unrelated charges, he arranged by telephone with his then girlfriend to locate and sell a firearm that he illegally possessed, and took steps to continue running his established drug trafficking business.

ГОССЕКРЕТАРЬ БЛИНКЕН: Приветствую всех. Спасибо вам, уважаемый Президент Зеленский, за то, что собрали нас на третьем Саммите Крымской платформы.

Мы встречаемся через 18 месяцев с момента начала жестокой полномасштабной войны России против Украины. В течение 18 месяцев граждане Украины подвергаются постоянным нападениям на их жизнь и будущее их страны. Они видят, как разрушаются их дома, их школы, их объекты богослужений. Они становятся жертвами злодеяний, несут ужасающие человеческие потери.

И в течение тех же 18 месяцев украинский народ демонстрирует необычайную стойкость и решимость. Правительства и люди по всему миру – к числу которых с гордостью относятся американцы, – сплотились на стороне Украины в защиту принципов, лежащих в основе Устава Организации Объединенных Наций: суверенитета, независимости, территориальной целостности.

Агрессия России против Украины началась, когда Президент Путин вторгся в Крым и попытался силой изменить границы Украины в 2014 году. Россия милитаризовала полуостров, захватила парламент и устроила фиктивный референдум – что стало типовым сценарием для ее попыток аннексии востока и юга Украины в прошлом году.

И с тех пор Кремль подвергает крымчан кампании жестокости и репрессий. Россияне задерживают, пытают и устраивают исчезновения журналистов, активистов, религиозных и политических лидеров. Они уничтожают независимые средства массовой информации, используют пророссийскую пропаганду, чтобы настроить соседа против соседа, и пытаются милитаризировать украинских детей в так называемых летних лагерях Крыма.

Москва продолжает преследовать крымских татар – совершая налеты на мечети и дома, криминализируя мирные группы, удерживая гражданских активистов в российских тюремных колониях, мобилизуя молодых и пожилых на войну против их собственной родины.

Крым – это Украина. Мы не признаём – и никогда не признаем – незаконную российскую попытку аннексии.

Международное сообщество будет продолжать работу через Крымскую платформу, поддерживая восстановление контроля Украины над всей своей территорией, включая Крым; привлекая внимание к нарушениям России в Крыму; сокращая риски для безопасности и экономический ущерб, причиняемый российским вторжением и оккупацией; призывая к освобождению всех политических заключенных, удерживаемых Россией.

В их числе – Заместитель Главы Меджлиса крымских татар Нариман Джелял, приговоренный к 17 годам каторжных работ после участия в первом Саммите Крымской платформы.

Вместе со странами всего мира мы будем продолжать работать над установлением справедливого и прочного мира, который поддерживает принципы, лежащие в основе Устава ООН.

Завтра, конечно же, также отмечается День независимости Украины – день силы и гордости. Тридцать два года назад Верховная Рада провозгласила, и украинцы в каждом регионе подтвердили, цитирую: "Территория Украины неделима и неприкосновенна".

Сегодня мы собрались в поддержку этого принципа. И мы будем продолжать вместе защищать его.
