The transfer portal has become the biggest way for programs to add talent quickly, but it takes weeks of camp for those additions to reveal themselves. Pete Nakos has spoken to sources across CFB and identified 20 under-the-radar transfers turning heads through the opening weeks of camp.
Alabama LB Caleb Woodson: Not one of the most hyped names in the Crimson Tide's transfer class, Woodson is positioned to start and wear the green dot. The converted safety posted 58 tackles in nine games last season at Virginia Tech and has been one of the steadiest performers on Alabama's defense in camp.
Indiana RB Turbo Richard: The Hoosiers already brought back Khobie Martin and Lee Beebe, but they may have found a steal in the Boston College transfer. Richard rushed for 749 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry last season, and sources say he's pushing hard for the starting job.
Ole Miss WR Horatio Fields: The Rebels' receiver room drew plenty of attention this offseason with the additions of Johntay Cook and Darrell Gill, but Fields could be the sleeper of the group. The Auburn transfer managed just 12 catches last season, but he's squarely in the mix for a starting spot and could be a reliable target for Trinidad Chambliss.
Plenty more newcomers are making a case for playing time before kickoff arrives. Pete Nakos has the full breakdown on all 20 transfers making an impression below.
