Morning! This is Kristen Wong from Sports Illustrated. I, for one, cannot wait for the weekend to come any sooner. It’s been a pretty stressful week, and I’ve mostly been coping by watching behind-the-scenes clips of Hacks and rewatching Derry Girls episodes. On the bright side, New York City has seemingly gotten nicer during the NBA Finals, a prime example of how sports truly does bring people together. Let’s hope that really tall Frenchman doesn’t ruin it all.
Forward this to someone who has bought way too many soccer jerseys in preparation for the World Cup and doesn’t know how to stop. Buying more things won’t make you feel any less empty inside.

The most buzzy moments from yesterday were…
MOONWALKIN’ TO THE CHIP: Jalen Brunson was asked what show he would attend for the price of the cheapest available Knicks-Spurs Game 3 ticket, roughly $7,500. He answered, “A live Michael Jackson performance.” Our man knows ball, and he knows culture. Bring it home, Brunson.
AI-SPN: ESPN is rightfully getting slammed on social media for using AI to alter a photo of Spurs legend Tony Parker. The network is now reportedly reevaluating its approach to using the AI technology, which continues to threaten the livelihood of sportswriters and many others working in the industry.
FIRE ELMO: We normally wouldn’t encourage cancelling a children’s TV show puppet, but there are exceptions. Elmo shared a social media post shortly before Game 1 of the NBA Finals in which he said he hoped both the Knicks and Spurs would have fun. No, Elmo. That’s not the correct answer. The best part of this tweet was definitely the replies: “These streets ain’t sesame,” “Pick a side, coward,” “bro you from Queens.” We were always bigger fans of Oscar the Grouch, anyway.
BLESS YOU, CAITLIN: Caitlin Clark enjoyed an efficient game with 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in Thursday night’s win over the Dream, and she did it while sick. The Fever star said postgame she was puking in a trash can at halftime but felt fine after that. She also had an on-court interview with a reporter whom she told to get some hand sanitizer out of an abundance of caution. Not the best flu game we’ve seen in basketball history, but it sure was a good one.
