Good morning, dear readers! You already know who it is … but let me introduce myself anyway. This is *clears throat* SI’s Brigid Kennedy, back another daily download on the sporting headlines to know.
It was a bit quiet between games yesterday, so we don’t have too much to report this go around. But rest assured that there will be lots of discussion tomorrow after a sure-to-be-wild Game 4. Forward this to a friend who missed their movie on Monday night, thanks to the Secret Service perimeter around Madison Square Garden.

DOG DAYS: Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to enter the dog days of summer, which means things are getting slower and slower on the news front. As a result, we don’t have too much for you today, but I’ve done my best to scrounge up some headlines worth knowing. Here’s the latest … Knicks coach Mike Brown was livid with the officiating in Game 3 on Monday, which saw San Antonio take 24 second-half free throws to New York’s eight. These three no-calls in particular prove he was kind of right to be mad. … The league has now reviewed perhaps the most egregious of those moments, i.e., when Victor Wembanyama shoved Jalen Brunson early in the game, and decided that, although refs did miss a call there, no additional punishment is needed. … Still, it might be best to just assess Wemby the flagrant lest anyone take this warning from Ex-Knick Stephon Marbury to heart. There’s already enough aggression between fanbases right now. … Elsewhere, Serena Williams made her tennis comeback officially official with a win at Queen’s Club, and we live blogged NFL minicamp, where Kyler Murray talked a bit about the Vikings’ QB battle. … Also, A’ja Wilson became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 6,000 career points after Monday night’s win vs. the Storm. Here’s how long it took her.

Fun clicks ...
OUT OF FRAME: Even though Victor Wembanyama is 7'4", it’s sometimes easy to forget that that is the case, considering he stands next to other basketball players day in and day out. Watching him stand next to a regularly-sized person, however, is much more jarring. Take this hilarious postgame interview between him and ESPN’s Lisa Salters, for example. … The network couldn’t even fit both of them in the frame.
LITTLER LEAGUES: If you haven’t been following the Men’s College World Series, now is a good time to start, as our Patrick Andres outlined one stat to know about each of the eight remaining teams.

πΊ What we’re watching tonight ... |

|
NBA Finals:
Spurs @ Knicks, Game 4—8:30 p.m. ET; ESPN
San Antonio did what it needed to do in Game 3, and that was to get on board with a win. Now, they’ll see if they can even the series with yet another dub at Madison Square Garden, perhaps the toughest road environment they’ve faced thus far. Either that, or they’ll be facing elimination in front of their home crowd on Saturday.
WNBA:
Sparks @ Storm—10 p.m. ET; USA Network
Los Angeles and Seattle will square up in what qualifies as a Commissioner’s Cup game tonight. The Sparks finally snapped a three-game losing streak with a win against the Fire on Sunday, and will be hoping to keep that momentum going here. And speaking of momentum, the Storm could sure use some; they haven’t won a game since May 24.
MLB:
Dodgers @ Pirates—6:40 p.m. ET; MLB.TV
Shohei’s on the mound in Pittsburgh tonight! You’re gonna wanna watch. It’s a shame he and Skenes, who pitched last night, weren’t in the same game.
And that’s all I’ve got for ya. As always, enjoy the sports.
