Good morning, sports fans! This is SI’s Brigid Kennedy, here to deliver you another edition of the best recap newsletter on the market. Nine out of 10 dentists recommend.
With the NBA Finals and Stanley Cup officially in the rearview, all we’ve got to entertain us now is baseball and the WNBA. Thank god for the World Cup … forward this to your friend who always knew Cabo Verde could do it.

PLAY BALL: Basketball, football and baseball, that is. Let’s start with hoops, considering the weekend we had. … To begin, Blake Silverman and Liam McKeone threw together a list of winners and losers from the 2026 NBA Finals, outside of, well, the obvious selections. … Speaking of, we predict Victor Wembanyama must improve in these three ways to make another leap next season. … In New York, the Knicks will have some big decisions to make in the coming months as they look to make another run at the Larry O’Brien in 2027. … And in Chicago, the Bulls hired interim Trail Blazers coach Tiago Splitter as their next head honcho. But was it the right move? We discussed. … And finally, we pulled together some more rumors regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo and a potential future trade. … In the NFL world, ex-Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski chatted with our Mike Kadlick about New England’s big play for A.J. Brown (spoiler alert: Gronk feels great about it). … And, in baseball, MLB has issued a warning to the Giants pitchers who adorned their Pride Night hats with Bible verses.
INSIDE THE NCAA: π₯Well. This is fine.π₯According to a Monday evening report from ESPN, embattled quarterback Brendan Sorsby is reportedly planning to enter the NFL supplemental draft, despite having won an injunction that would have allowed him to play next season at Texas Tech. … Ay caramba. If you forget how we got here, please refer to this timeline from SI’s Patrick Andres. ... Anyway, we’ll have to see if professional clubs feel similarly on the matter to former Cowboys star and Colorado coach Deion Sanders, who weighed in on Sorsby’s gambling scandal in a recent Associated Press article. … At Michigan State, meanwhile, the Spartans are now hiring their fourth athletic director in a decade after J Batt abandoned ship to take over at Kentucky. Tom Izzo is none too pleased.
U.S. OPEN PREVIEW: The U.S. Open starts Thursday! And as we get ready for the competition to begin at Shinnecock Hills, here is a look at the 10 best golfers who haven’t yet won the third major of the season (hint: Scottie Scheffler will be one to watch). … Three-time winner Bryson DeChambeau will also be one to watch, but for different reasons—i.e., will he make the cut here after missing it at the Masters and the PGA Championship? Tune in to find out.

This will fill your cup ...
PARTY ON: When the Thunder won the chip last season, it felt like their celebration was a tad … tame. And hey, maybe that’s not a fair assessment; perhaps most of it was happening behind the scenes. The Knicks, however, have left nothing about their resultant partying up to interpretation, and are also way easier to corral for TV appearances since they play in New York, anyway. Combine those two things together, and you’ve got the makings for some hilarious moments. On Monday, the team’s Good Morning America segment and Mikal Bridges’s drunken IG live kept us laughing all day long.

WNBA:
Tempo @ Fever—7 p.m. ET; USA Network
The Fever have reversed their fortunes as of late and are on a three-game win streak after a middling start to the season. The Tempo, meanwhile, sit at .500 and haven’t won their last two.
MLB:
Padres @ Cardinals—7:45 p.m. ET; TBS
The 39–31 Cardinals were supposed to be—or were at least expected to be—rebuilding this season, but they’ve shocked us all with a surprising run so far. And they’ve already defeated the 37–34 Padres in the first game of this three-game series. We’ll see what happens tonight.
That’s all I’ve got, dear readers. I’ll see you tomorrow!
