Morning all! This is Brigid Kennedy from Sports Illustrated, reporting live with everything you missed over the weekend, plus a primer on what’s coming next. Has anybody here seen Disclosure Day? As a Spielberg enthusiast, I know I must, but I’ve been awfully slow getting to AMC. So don’t be like me—go buy a movie ticket! Save theaters!
In other news, there really isn’t much news; this was quite the slow Friday/Saturday/Sunday on our end. But hey, that’s summer for ya. Forward this to a friend whose PTO schedule is also just a little suspect this time of year …

BUZZ BUZZ: The Charlotte Hornets are having themselves a busy offseason, that’s for sure. Last week, they traded star LaMelo Ball (plus Josh Green) for Naz Reid and a bevy of draft capital. Then, on Sunday, they traded veteran forward Miles Bridges plus two picks to the Suns in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale and a 2033 first-rounder. GM Jeff Peterson is cooking something up. And you already know SI’s Liam McKeone has got the grades for ya. … And speaking of trades, turns out the Celtics again offered up Jaylen Brown in a semi-related package to the Timberwolves. Things are going to get really awkward in Boston here soon. … Meanwhile, in the WNBA, the fallout over the Alyssa Thomas-Caitlin Clark dust-up continues: Thomas’s coach, Nate Tibbetts, defended his player ahead of Saturday’s game vs. the Tempo, during which Thomas served her suspension. … And for her part, Clark is taking some time away from the court to recover from the back injuries she suffered during the testy game in question vs. Phoenix.
ORANGE AND BLUE WHIFFS: The Knicks are celebrating their NBA title, but meanwhile, the Big Apple’s other orange and blue team continues to flail. Yes, I am talking about the Mets. On Friday, the team announced that manager Carlos Mendoza had been fired amid the squad’s 35-49 season. … Now, the front office should look to sell at the trade deadline. But who exactly should they move? Tim Capurso takes a look.

DANCING WITH MYSELF: On Friday, as PIX 11 journalist Steve Gelbs reported live on the Mets’ decision to fire Cohen, Mr. Met—the team’s baseball-headed mascot—would not stop dancing in the background of the shot. The result? A hilarious juxtaposition that only baseball could produce.
GONE SWIMMING: The Travelers Championship featured an almost 90-minute weather delay on Sunday, which then pushed a playoff between Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland to Monday. But fans on the ground made the most of the gross afternoon by turning the slippery course into a quasi-water park.
GOOD BOY: Sometimes, an athlete is so good that you need your dog to understand. Such was the case at TPC River Highlands on Sunday, when a spectator physically realigned his dog so that the pup was watching as Scottie Scheffler took a swing. Think of what he can tell his friends at the dog park now.

Tennis:
Wimbledon, First Round—6 a.m. ET; ESPN
The first round of women’s and men’s singles kicks off today at the All England Club. Ahead of Serena Williams’s big return tomorrow, make sure to check out world No. 1s Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, as well as Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka, all of whom are playing today.
MLB:
Rangers @ Guardians—7 p.m. ET; ESPN
The Rangers sit atop the AL West with 42 wins and 42 losses; the Guardians, meanwhile, have 44 wins and 40 losses and are essentially tied with the White Sox in the AL Central. Tonight marks the start of a three-game series between the two, with the Rangers coming off a four-game sweep of the Blue Jays.
Golf:
Travelers Championship—9 a.m. ET; Golf Channel
Remember that playoff we talked about above? It’ll be contested in just a few hours. As a refresher, this is happening because Scottie Scheffler sank an 8-foot par putt on the 18th hole on Sunday to tie Viktor Hovland at 21-under.
That’s all for today. Have fun watching sports.
