PatentsView migrating to USPTO Open Data Portal On March 20, PatentsView will migrate to the Open Data Portal (ODP) to support long-term sustainability, reliability, and broader access to high‑quality patent data. PatentsView is an open-access data resource that helps people explore and analyze U.S. patent data. Supported by the Office of the Chief Economist at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), PatentsView offers structured datasets, PatentSearch API, visualizations, and intuitive tools for researchers, policymakers, and innovators. As part of the transition to ODP, some PatentsView functions—including search, APIs, visualizations, and support services—will pause temporarily starting March 20. The USPTO plans to reintroduce these functions in updated forms as the transition progresses. Continued access to data PatentsView data downloads and data dictionaries are already available through ODP, along with a transition guide with further details. In addition, the USPTO's PatentsView webpage will serve as the central access point for PatentsView updates and information after March 20. If you need assistance accessing PatentsView data through ODP, contact USPTO Open Data Portal Support at data@uspto.gov. |
