|  Join the USPTO's team of intellectual property (IP) attachés The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is seeking qualified candidates to join our team of intellectual property (IP) attachés posted to U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. The IP Attaché Program currently has three vacancies—in Brussels, Mexico City, and Shanghai. The application period is open through March 31, 2026. IP attachés advocate internationally to improve IP systems and assist U.S. stakeholders in all areas of IP. They serve an initial two-year limited appointment, which may be extended for up to three additional years. The roles and responsibilities of an IP attaché include: - Promoting and explaining U.S. government IP policy overseas
- Advising U.S. government officials on foreign governments' IP systems
- Advocating for improvements to foreign countries' IP-related laws and regulations
- Conducting on-the-ground IP education and awareness programs for government officials and the public
