Jackson, TN – A federal judge has sentenced Mekevin Woods, 23, of Bolivar, Tennessee, to 38 months in federal prison for possessing a machinegun conversion device, also known as a "switch." Interim U.S. Attorney Joseph C. Murphy, Jr. announced the sentence today.According to evidence presented in court, on December 23, 2023, an officer with the Bolivar Police Department (BPD) attempted a traffic stop of a gray 2022 Infiniti Q60.  When the driver refused to stop, he led the BPD officer on a high-speed pursuit reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. Memphis, TN – The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed the 540-month federal prison sentence handed down to Kendrick Watson, 44, following his conviction on drug and firearm offenses at a February 2024 jury trial in the Western District of Tennessee. Memphis, TN – Today, Interim United States Attorney Joseph C. Murphy, Jr. announced criminal charges against three defendants in connection with an alleged scheme to defraud the Federal Employees' Compensation Fund (FECA).  The charges filed in federal court are part of the Department of Justice's 2025 National Health Care Fraud Takedown.  The charges stem from a West Tennessee pharmacy which fraudulently billed FECA for medications that were not based on valid prescriptions and were not dispensed to the injured claimants."This record-setting Health Care Fraud Takedown delivers justice to criminal actors who prey upon our most vulnerable citizens and steal from hardworking American taxpayers," said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. Memphis, TN Jeffrey Crosslin, 41, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for production of child pornography.  Interim U.S. Attorney Joseph C. Murphy, Jr. for the Western District of Tennessee announced the sentence today.According to information presented in court, on four occasions in June, July, and August of 2024, Jeffrey Crosslin secretly photographed a twelve-year-old child in a store where Crosslin worked a part time job. In many of the photographs, the child was sitting in a position that unintentionally exposed her inner thighs and buttocks and her clothed vaginal area.
