José Adolfo "Fito" Macías Villamar, Leader of Los Choneros Transnational Criminal Organization, Indicted in Brooklyn Federal Court on International Drug and Gun Charges 04/02/2025 08:00 AM EDT A seven-count indictment was unsealed today in federal court in Brooklyn charging José Adolfo Macías Villamar, also known as "Fito," with international cocaine distribution conspiracy; international cocaine distribution; using firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking; smuggling firearms from the United States; and straw purchasing of firearms conspiracy.  Since at least 2020, he has been the leader of Los Choneros, one of Ecuador's most violent drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations.  The defendant is not in U.S. custody.
