View Online IMMEDIATE RELEASE General Officer Announcements Dec. 3, 2024 Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nominations: Army Lt. Gen. Joseph P. McGee for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as director, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. McGee is currently serving as director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff; and senior member, U.S. Delegation to the United Nations Military Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Army Col. John W. Sannes for appointment to the grade of brigadier general. Sannes is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for Operations, Plans and Experiments, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army Futures Command, Austin, Texas.
