MACON, Ga. – A former Central Georgia teacher, coach and volunteer youth ministry leader who admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) was sentenced to serve six years in federal prison for his crime. Christian Baumgarth, 28, of Atlanta, was sentenced to serve 72 months in prison to be followed by 25 years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell on Nov. 20.

JAQUET JACOBS, also known as "Fifty," 33, of New Haven, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sarala V. Nagala in Hartford to 36 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for his participation in a New Haven drug trafficking ring.

Adam Lamar Harrell, 41, of Midlothian, was sentenced today to six years in prison for mail fraud, federal program theft, and tax evasion in connection with a scheme to misappropriate millions of dollars from the Virginia Department of Health.

Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that DARIUS A. PADUCH, a former urologist at two prominent medical institutions in the New York-area, was sentenced today to life in prison by Judge Ronnie Abrams for his yearslong sexual abuse of patients, some of whom were minors.

Two West Virginia men have admitted to methamphetamine trafficking in Grant and Randolph Counties. James Jerome Curtis, 41, of Petersburg, West Virginia, and Burlin Junior Howell, 59, of Elkins, West Virginia, each pled guilty to distributing methamphetamine.

A five-count criminal indictment was unsealed today in federal court in Brooklyn charging Gautam S. Adani, Sagar R. Adani and Vneet S. Jaain, executives of an Indian renewable-energy company, with conspiracies to commit securities and wire fraud and substantive securities fraud for their roles in a multi-billion-dollar scheme to obtain funds from U.S. investors and global financial institutions on the basis of false and misleading statements.

U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr., announced efforts to combat transnational money laundering, including the creation of the Eastern District of North Carolina's Illicit Finance Task Force (IFTF). The IFTF is a groundbreaking multiagency task force constituted to disrupt, dismantle, or render ineffective organizations involved in laundering criminal proceeds from drug trafficking and other crimes.  The task force targets third-party money launderers and money transmitting businesses utilizing cryptocurrency, money services, bulk cash, banking, and brokerages to run dirty money through the American financial system.  The task force is led by the U.S. Attorney's Office with partners from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
