Jury Convicts Phoenix Man of Assault on a Federal Officer and Alien Smuggling 07/19/2024 08:00 AM EDT TUCSON, Ariz. – Michael Leroy Witt, 55, of Phoenix, was convicted by a federal jury last week of Assault on a Federal Officer Causing Bodily Injury, Conspiracy to Transport Illegal Aliens for Profit, and Transportation of Illegal Aliens for Profit. The jury also found that Witt placed human life in jeopardy during and in relation to his alien smuggling offenses.
