View Online IMMEDIATE RELEASE Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III's Call With Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant Feb. 1, 2024 Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant today to discuss Israel's shift to low-intensity operations in Gaza, support for a diplomatic solution along the Israel-Lebanon border, and stability in the West Bank.  Secretary Austin reaffirmed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza and thanked Minister Gallant for his efforts towards this shared objective.   Secretary Austin and Minister Gallant discussed regional threats to U.S. forces. Minister Gallant offered his condolences for the loss of three U.S. soldiers killed in the Iran-proxy drone attack in Jordan.
