Oct 01, 2022 Ian slows down as the death toll grows in Florida; heavy floods predicted throughout the Southeast Hurricane Ian was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone after slamming into Florida and then South Carolina. It's expected to move across central North Carolina over Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center, and dissipate over south-central Virginia by the night. The storm has killed at least 34 people in Florida, according to state officials and an NBC News count.
