EXCLUSIVE: The FBI questioned NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre in connection with a $70 million Mississippi welfare scandal

Brett Favre, the Hall of Fame quarterback who led the Green Bay Packers to a 1997 Super Bowl win, has become embroiled in a sprawling $70 million welfare scandal in Mississippi. The FBI has spoken to Favre about speeches he was paid for but never delivered. Favre has repaid the speaking fees but not the interest demanded by the state auditor.

Favre has not been accused of a crime or charged, and he declined an interview with NBC News. His lawyer said Favre did nothing wrong and never understood he was paid with money intended to help poor children.
