Assistant Attorney General - Maryland 529 (REPOST)

Job Title:    Assistant Attorney General       Position Type: Regular Full Time

Location:  Office of the Attorney General, Maryland 529, 200 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, Maryland 21202

Description: The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General to serve as counsel to Maryland 529, an independent State agency that oversees two college savings programs and one disability saving program established and maintained pursuant to §§ 529 and 529A of the Internal Revenue Code.  Responsibilities include advising the Maryland 529 Board at its meetings; advising Maryland 529 staff regarding compliance with applicable plan documents, statutes, and regulations governing §§ 529 and 529A plans; reviewing and revising plan documents and marketing materials for compliance with applicable rules and regulations; preparing legal memoranda; reviewing agency and Board policies; and providing procurement and personnel advice.  This position also negotiates investment agreements and side letters with investment managers engaged for the Maryland Prepaid College Trust.  Other responsibilities include coordinating with members of the Division's litigation team to facilitate defense of litigation, developing and presenting fiduciary training programs, and other duties as assigned.
