Fostering Healthy Futures Program is Promising

Re-Review of New Study Results, Rating Remains Promising

This is a positive youth development program for preadolescent children (ages 9-11) who have current or previous child welfare involvement due to one or more adverse childhood experiences. The program is rated Promising. Children who participated in the program displayed statistically significant reductions in posttraumatic stress symptoms, dissociation symptoms, and scores on key mental health outcomes, compared with children in the control group.

In 2015, Fostering Healthy Futures® for Preteens was rated Promising based on two studies. In 2022, the Program was re-reviewed using a new study and the updated CrimeSolutions Program Scoring Instrument. This re-review resulted in the program maintaining the final rating of Promising. While the rating remained the same, there were changes in the rated outcomes.

CrimeSolutions assigns ratings to programs based on the preponderance of evidence from up to three studies that have assessed outcomes related to crime, delinquency, or victimization prevention, intervention, or response.
