The House Jan. 6 committee has not publicly devoted much time to law enforcement's failure to predict and prevent the Capitol riot, but such failures by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security are expected to be a focus in the committee's final report as it prepares for another round of hearings in September, sources told NBC News. Behind the scenes, a special group of investigators, dubbed the "blue team," has already conducted "more than 100 interviews and depositions touching on these matters of security and intelligence across several federal and local agencies," said a committee aide.
