Austin III spoke by phone with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, His Excellency Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.  Secretary Austin congratulated the minister on his recent appointment and praised the enduring strategic relationship between the United States and Kuwait. The two leaders discussed regional security issues and reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-Kuwait defense partnership.  Secretary Austin thanked the Defense Minister for Kuwait's longstanding generosity in hosting U.S. forces.  Both leaders pledged to continue cooperation on regional security issues.
