Mar 02, 2022 Texas opens child abuse investigations into trans kids' families following governor's directive, lawsuit says The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has opened an investigation into one of its own employees who has a transgender teenager after she was reported for alleged child abuse, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday. According to the lawsuit, the investigation is one of three that began after Texas' attorney general issued a nonbinding legal opinion last week stating that providing gender-affirming medical care to any person under age 18 is considered child abuse under state law.
