Dec 09, 2021 'Modern-day slavery': Feds bust one of country's largest human trafficking rings preying on immigrant workers  Two dozen people were indicted in Georgia on charges of smuggling immigrants to the U.S. and forcing them to work on farms and live in dismal conditions without regular food and water, according to recently unsealed documents. At least 100 workers were freed after two died, another was repeatedly raped, and others were kidnapped and threatened with death. The operation is the first of its kind that aims to punish employers rather than the undocumented immigrants who were exploited.
