Nomination period for National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee closing soon

The U.S. Department of Commerce published a Federal Register Notice (FRN) requesting nominations to serve on the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC)—five days remain in the nomination period. Committee nominations will be accepted until October 25 at 5 p.m. ET.

The National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020 calls for the establishment of the NAIAC. Committee members will have the unique opportunity to advise and make recommendations to the President and the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office on matters such as the state of U.S. competitiveness and leadership in AI, as well as opportunities for international cooperation with strategic allies on globally important AI issues. Additional information on the NAIAC nomination requirements and process can be can be found on the NAIAC FAQ webpage.

Those qualified to provide advice and information in these areas (and any other areas identified in the FRN), are encouraged to submit a self or third-party nomination to serve on the NAIAC.
