Primary responsibilities include litigation in federal and state courts, along with advice, counsel, and support to all bureaus of the Department, on a variety of matters including police operations, Public Information Act advice and litigation, constitutional law, employment law, forensic sciences, criminal discovery, procurement, etc. The litigation for the agency includes defending suits involving civil rights, intentional torts, and motor vehicle torts.
