The CDC explains why it says vaccinated people should mask up, two high jumpers share a gold medal, and sex parties are back.

THE BIG STORY   A COVID outbreak among vaccinated people in Cape Cod is what prompted the CDC to say they should mask up, too   The Delta variant outbreak overwhelmingly led to mild cases among vaccinated people, showing that the vaccines still did their main jobs of preventing severe disease and death.    But these "breakthrough cases" could still spread the virus.    Outside experts reached by BuzzFeed News largely supported the CDC's decision, arguing that the findings only add more urgency to speed up the nation's vaccination campaign. But some scientists are skeptical that the new CDC results can be interpreted very broadly. One called it "immunologically unlikely" that breakthrough cases were as contagious as infections in unvaccinated people. STAYING ON TOP OF THIS   US Olympic fencers wore pink masks to protest their teammate accused of sexual assault   Photos shared on social media showed three of the four athletes on the men's épée team — Jake Hoyle, Curtis McDowald, and Yeisser Ramirez — wearing pink masks. Elsa / Getty Images ENTERTAINMENT   DaBaby was dropped by Lollapalooza for his anti-gay comments, made at a previous performance and on Instagram, hours before he was to perform.    Keara Wilson, the TikTok creator who choreographed the viral #SavageChallenge dance, now owns the copyright to the moves. Wilson created the dance to Megan Thee Stallion's hit song "Savage" in March 2020.   TikTok Star Anthony Barajas has died after he and a woman were shot at a Purge screening. Rylee Goodrich, the 18-year-old woman who was watching the movie with Barajas at the theater in Corona, California, died of her injuries at the scene. Kim Kardashian is being accused of trying to "steamroll a minority business" after trying to trademark her new skincare line with an almost identical name. POLITICS   A key Senate Democrat says passing universal paid parental leave this fall is a top priority. "This is a top priority for me, it's a top priority for the White House, and it's a top priority for our Democratic caucus," Senate Health Committee Chair Patty Murray told BuzzFeed News.   President Joe Biden has nominated Khizr Khan to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. Khan, a Gold Star parent, gave a powerful speech in 2016 lambasting then-candidate Trump's disparaging comments about Muslim Americans.   The Senate has confirmed the first woman of Arab and Mexican descent to direct US Citizenship and Immigration Services. It hasn't had a Senate-confirmed leader in more than two years. The Justice Department is revisiting its sexual harassment policies, according to a memo sent to all employees.  SEX WEEK   Sex (and cuddle) parties are back   With vaccines coursing through their veins, people are emerging from the pandemic with one thing on their mind: getting down, or at least maybe a little reclined. After visiting a recently reopened sex club, contributor Hallie Lieberman wondered what sex and cuddle parties looked like now, with touch-starved people starting to reconnect on a physical level again.  "It was joyful," one person told her. "We are all right next to each other and we're barely wearing clothes, and more importantly we're not wearing masks, and I'm not scared about that because I'm vaccinated. Like, why isn't that the commercial to get vaccinated? Get vaccinated and then you can go to orgies." TOKYO OLYMPICS   The moment these two Olympians decided to share a gold medal is so joyful    Sharing an experience with your friend is great. Sharing a gold medal with your friend? Even better! On Sunday, athletes Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy and Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar chose to share first place at the Olympic men's high jump final thanks to a quirk in the rule book. Then they both attempted a jump of 2.39 meters, but neither could make it. According to the rules, they could either settle it with a jump-off or share the gold.   The decision was a no-brainer for the friends of more than a decade. Want some more feel-good pics?
