Hoping to ward off demographic crisis, China tells couples they can have a third child in major policy shift

China will allow couples to have up to three children, state media reported on Monday, as the Communist Party eases birth limits further in a bid to address concerns that the number of working-age people in the world's most populous country is falling too fast.
