Payroll employment up by 379,000 in February; down 9.5 million in the last 12 months 03/09/2021 Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 379,000 in February 2021 but is down by 9.5 million, or 6.2 percent, from its level before the COVID-19 pandemic in February 2020. Employment in leisure and hospitality increased by 355,000, as pandemic-related restrictions eased in some parts of the country. Employment also rose in professional and business services (+63,000), education and health services (+44,000), and retail trade (+41,000) in February. HTML
