STATEMENT: U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo On Her Meeting With The U.S. Travel Association

WASHINGTON – Following her meeting with American travel and tourism CEOs convened by the U.S. Travel Association, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo released the following statement:

"COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on the travel and tourism industry and has hurt far too many local economies, working people, and businesses. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the Biden-Harris Administration is poised to deliver much needed help to these communities through economic relief and increased resources to rein in the COVID-19 pandemic – which has caused this economic crisis.

I am committed to bringing a whole of Commerce approach to travel and tourism-related issues, and I look forward to engaging agencies across the Federal government in efforts to accelerate a safe recovery and ensure that we have a stronger platform for long-term growth."
