THE BIG STORY
Anti-vaxxers temporarily shut down one of the largest COVID-19 vaccination sites in the US
Los Angeles's Dodger Stadium is one of the country's largest vaccination sites. It's serving a region currently grappling with a particularly deadly wave of COVID-19 — as of Saturday, LA has had 1.1 million cases and more than 16,000 deaths since the pandemic began. More than 5,000 people are currently hospitalized with the coronavirus in LA.
But on Saturday, as people waited to get their vaccines, the entrance to Dodger Stadium was shut down for 55 minutes because of anti-vax protesters. About 50 people gathered at the entrance, holding signs with anti-vaccine and anti-mask rhetoric and shouting at drivers lined up for their appointments.
The Los Angeles Fire Department closed the entrance as a precaution. Social media posts showed the protesters attempted to engage with people waiting in their cars. A spokesperson for the department told us that despite the delay, no vaccine appointments were canceled.
The incident comes a month after anti-mask protesters calling COVID-19 a "con job" harassed shoppers at an LA mall and grocery store. It was not immediately clear whether the two protest groups were connected. Twitter @daveedkapoor / Reuters HELP US PURSUE GOVERNMENT SECRETS

Three stories about charges relating to the Capitol riots
Law enforcement agencies will be busy for some time trying to bring those involved in the Jan 6. riots to justice. Here are three notable stories from those efforts:
π Most Capitol insurrectionists got to go home. Prosecutors are now fighting to keep some behind bars. The government has raced to challenge release orders for a handful of people they believe pose an imminent threat to the community.
π One of the Proud Boys who stormed the Capitol had instructions for making guns and bombs in his home, FBI says. Dominic Pezzola was caught on camera smashing a Capitol window with a police shield, the FBI found.
π Two brothers caught on video chasing a Black officer during the Capitol assault have been charged. Joshua and Jerod Hughes of Montana were accused of being among the first 10 rioters who broke into the Capitol and ambushing Officer Eugene Goodman. A Mexican man died in ICE custody after testing positive for COVID-19. The 57-year-old man was detained at a facility in Georgia where three other immigrants have already died after contracting the coronavirus.
ICE deported a survivor of the El Paso Walmart shooting who was assisting in the investigation, her lawyers say. The woman, identified only as Rosa to protect her identity, has been deported by ICE following an arrest during a traffic stop, according to lawyers.
Grammy-nominated artist SOPHIE has died at 34 in an accident. The musician, who was celebrated as an artistic visionary and a trans advocate, died after an accidental fall, SOPHIE's record labels said.
For Black people trying to make it in entertainment, Clubhouse is the place to be. The audio-based app has become popular with the Black entertainment industry — for better and for worse.
Coachella and Stagecoach were just canceled because of the coronavirus — again. The festivals were canceled in 2020, with a plan to return this spring. But health officials said the pandemic was too out of control to risk holding events. A MISEDUCATION
Trump taught teachers conspiracy theories. Now they're teaching them to students.
There's the northern Virginia middle school teacher who told his students the Jan. 6 attempted coup was a "set up." He told his students he was in attendance. He defended the mob that marched to the Capitol as "peaceful," and blamed Black Lives Matter protests for "destroying cities."
There's also the Wisconsin high school teacher who is under investigation for telling his students he was going to DC to defend "election integrity." Or the Florida substitute teachers suspended for telling his students falsely that the protesters were antifa.
Julia Reinstein reports on reckoning with the role played by the country's teachers who participated in, or supported, the coup. These educators, who like millions of other Americans wrongly believe the 2020 election was stolen, are not only responsible for teaching children what happened that day, they're helping to build the next generation of voters.
One expert put it like this: "To have people who are espousing anti-democratic values, stories, hyperbole, misinformation to our students, it's really dangerous because this is where they're developing their sense of what it means to be an American." RETURN TO READING
19 tips for reading more this year
For a lot of us, the pandemic has meant a major reading slump. Many people reported being too distracted or overwhelmed to focus on reading.
