'A mini-exodus': Tech companies are leaving Silicon Valley for cheaper cities

While Silicon Valley is by no means ceasing to be the center of the technology industry, an undeniable migration is afoot for some of Silicon Valley's elite to cheaper cities, such as Miami and Austin, Texas. But the reasons many businesses are moving are more complex than people may think.

"California has blown it, but not because of tax policy" — it's because it didn't produce enough housing, one expert said. "It's probably cheaper and easier to build that in Austin."
