For three decades, Patricia Edwards of Greenville, South Carolina, worked the overnight shift as an intensive care unit nurse. When the coronavirus hit the United States, Edwards knew she was needed. What Edwards did not know was that the virus would eventually infect her own household, killing her and her mother in the span of a week. Edwards' five children have been overwhelmed with calls and tributes from people whose lives their mother touched. "We knew how much she was loved," Edwards' eldest daughter said, "but we didn't know to this magnitude." |
