Uncompensated Special Assistant United States Attorney 08/24/2020 10:29 AM EDT USAO Southern District of Illinois Fairview Heights, IL Fairview Heights, Illinois Announcement #: 20-ILS-10892510-SAUSA Application Deadline: September 14, 2020 This position offers a unique opportunity to a qualified candidate wishing to gain experience as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) in the Criminal Division. The position offers flexibility and telework opportunities during the pandemic, as the successful applicant will have primary responsibility as a legal writer. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses. This will include the opportunity to investigate and prosecute federal criminal violations. When available, the SAUSA may be given the opportunity to participate in training related to investigating and prosecuting federal crimes. The SAUSA position is located in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Travel to the Benton, Illinois branch office may be required. This position is temporary, not-to-exceed 1 year and may be extended without further competition. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
