EERE Assistant Secretary Highlights AMO Traineeship's COVID-19 Response

In a new blog, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Daniel R Simmons, highlighted the work of professors and students in the AMO-funded Enhanced Preparation for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (EPICS) traineeship at Georgia Tech. The EPICS team is developing and manufacturing personal protective equipment for the metro Atlanta medical community in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The traineeship, which focuses on preparing the next generation of engineers in emerging digital manufacturing tools, helped create an environment where the program could react quickly to the community's needs.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Notice of Intent to Issue Funding to Enhance Manufacturing Competitiveness through Innovation

AMO recently announced a Notice of Intent (NOI) to issue a funding opportunity to stimulate technology innovation, improve the energy productivity of American manufacturing, and enable the manufacturing of cutting-edge products in the United States.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Notice of Intent to Issue Funding for High Performance Computing Projects

AMO recently announced an NOI to issue a funding opportunity under DOE's High Performance Computing for Energy Innovation (HPC4EI) initiative. The solicitation will include topics in the AMO-funded High Performance Computing for Manufacturing program to support the development of energy-efficient manufacturing processes through partnerships between U.S. manufacturers and DOE National Laboratory, university, and non-profit partners.

Water Security Grand Challenge Releases New Quarterly Newsletter

The Water Security Grand Challenge is a White House-initiated, DOE-led effort to use a coordinated suite of prize competitions, early-stage R&D, and other programs to make rapid progress on a set of critical water issues. Better Plants Program Launches Online Learning Series

The Better Plants team has launched a new series of webinars focused on energy management best practices. The topics, which range from energy basics to compressed air systems, water efficiency, and more, are aimed at helping participants identify potential areas of improvement for their facilities that can lead to tangible energy and cost savings.

Deadline Approaching: Apply Now for The Individuals Taking Action In Manufacturing (ITEAM) Prize!

DOE's Individuals Taking Energy Action in Manufacturing (ITEAM) Prize competition seeks to recognize and bring attention to employees on the plant floor all around the country who not only recognize the importance of saving energy, but are making it happen, strengthening their company's competitiveness and driving cost savings in the process. DOE will select up to 5 winners in each category of small, medium, and large manufacturers, for a total of up to 15 winners. Each winner will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000.

Apply for the ITEAM prize by May 15, 2020 to be recognized!
