The United States & the Middle East: The Future of a Complex Relationship Lisa Anderson moderated a seminar with David Ignatius of the Washington Post, Texas A&M professor Gregory Gause, George Washington University professor Michael N. Barnett and Princeton University professor Amaney Jamal and the past and future of U.S. involvement in Middle East politics.  Les Talens Lyriques: Francois Couperin at 350 Harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset performed with colleagues from his superb ensemble Les Talens Lyriques, renowned for benchmark interpretations of music from Monteverdi to Berlioz. For the 350th Couperin anniversary they performed an intimate, refined evening of both secular and sacred music that illuminated the composer's place in the musical pantheon. Construction of Knowledge in the Ancient & Islamic Medieval Periods Myriam Wyssa presented a lecture, "A Scribe with a View: the Construction of Knowledge in the Ancient and Islamic Medieval Periods." Tank and the Bangas Educational Workshop Tank and the Bangas presented an interactive workshop in which they discussed their journey as a band and their inspirations, and they shared lessons they had learned with the audience. Women Documenting the World A day-long symposium that highlighted, explored and celebrated the contributions of women as ethnographic fieldworkers and scholars.
