Park Numbers Climb  The number of visitors at America's National Parks in 2019 was up by nine million over the previous year. The 327.5 million visitors total is the third highest since record keeping began in 1904. MacGregor Confirmed  The Senate this week confirmed Kate MacGregor as Deputy Secretary of the Interior. MacGregor worked on Capitol Hill for 10 years prior to joining the Department in January 2017. Central Valley Water Allocation  The Bureau of Reclamation this week announced the initial 2020 water supply allocation for Central Valley Project contractors in California. Those amounts are based on an estimate of water available for delivery to the valley's water users, and reflects current reservoir storages, precipitation and snowpack in the Central Valley and Sierra Nevada. Wildland Fire Job Fair  A job fair in Bakersfield, California for Interior's wildland fire fighting community results in dozens of job offers. Iwo Jima 75th Anniversary  On the 75th anniversary of the flag raising on Iwo Jima, the National Park Service announces the renovation of the Marine Corps War Memorial is complete. |
