A recent surge in coronavirus cases around the globe, including the tourist mecca Italy, has increased fears for American travelers who were planning trips abroad. Beyond international travel, U.S. public health officials have said Americans should also prepare for the spread of the virus at home. If the U.S. were hit by a widespread outbreak, domestic air travel would be drastically disrupted, an industry analyst said. That kind of disruption could rattle consumer confidence in all forms of travel, causing an anxiety-fueled economic impact similar to that after 9/11. |
