The below is attributable to Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus:‎

Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke today with Canadian Foreign Minister François‑Philippe Champagne.  Secretary Pompeo and Foreign Minister Champagne discussed the crash of Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752.  The Secretary extended his deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and offered U.S. support for full cooperation with any investigation.  The Secretary and Foreign Minister also spoke about the Iranian regime's continued aggressive and destabilizing actions in the region and steps to contain it, specifically, the opportunity for an expanded NATO force in Iraq and appropriate burden sharing.  Secretary Pompeo also explained the United States' interest in the March 20 election of Organization of American States leadership, specifically the re-election of Secretary General Luis Almagro, who has effectively restored the role of the Organization of American States as the key regional organization to address the central challenges in the hemisphere.
