Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, announced on Friday that she will vote against calling witnesses at President Donald Trump's impeachment trial, almost certainly ensuring the measure's defeat and paving the way for a final vote on the president's fate. After debate and a vote on witnesses, the trial will move to a final vote on whether to acquit or convict Trump on the two articles of impeachment passed by the House. Murkowski called the articles "rushed and flawed" and said that the partisan nature of the proceedings means that there will be "no fair trial" in the Senate. |
