The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) oversees the dynamic, growing organic industry. This small federal program that develops and enforces the organic standards to continually strengthen trust in the USDA organic seal has a big impact on farmers, businesses and consumers.
We are recruiting an Assistant Director for the Accreditation Division, the group that manages the NOP's oversight of accredited certifiers around the world. This is a great opportunity for an experienced organic program manager!
The selected candidate will:
- Assist the Division Director with overseeing the NOP Accreditation Program and ensuring all NOP accredited organic certifiers comply with the USDA organic regulations.
- Assist the Division Director with overseeing and assessing State Organic Programs to ensure compliance with the USDA organic regulations.
- Establish NOP accreditation procedures that align with the USDA organic regulations and applicable ISO elements.
- Oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accreditation Division's accreditation functions.
- Represent the Program in establishing and maintaining relationships with organic stakeholders.
- Assign and review the work of division staff, including accreditation managers.
- Monitor work progress, and as needed, provide advice and guidance on work processes and administrative matters.
This position is advertised as a Supervisory Agricultural Marketing Specialist at the GS-14 level and is open to qualified members of the public.
